Ocean Base Atlantic

The aquarium was called a "prison for fish" by the press and it was failing financially. BRC was asked to reinvent the aquarium's identity, quickly. The budget to salvage the sinking aquarium was less than $3 million and Ocean Base Atlantic was BRC's solution.

The result is a new kind of aquarium experience that utilizes story as a thematic thread to link the aquarium's fish tanks and to innovative special effects and stagecraft blur the traditional boundaries between visitors and live environments.

Inside Ocean Base Atlantic, visitors follow the exploits of an ocean explorer, as he takes them beneath the surface of the sea. Theatrical stagecraft, dramatic sets, scenic painting, show lighting, show audio and special effects let this story unfold as a dramatic, personal experience for each visitor. The undersea experience is complemented by a series of interactive exhibits and displays that invite visitors to discover the wonder of the oceans and their importance to the planet.
