Freej Dubailand Theme Park
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Client: Dubailand Theme Park
Scope: Master Planning and Concept Development
When the animated television series Freej premiered on Dubai TV in 2006, it became an overnight sensation throughout the Middle East. Created in the Gulf region, Freej tells the story of four “ordinary” grandmothers and their hilarious adventures as they go about their daily lives in the ever-changing city of Dubai. In the show’s success, the developers of Dubailand saw an opportunity – to build a new theme park focused on the Arab world and its stories. They hired BRC Imagination Arts to create Freej Dubailand which, with the beloved Freej characters and stories as central elements, celebrates the region’s culture and history.
Scheduled to open in 2012, the park has been called “the jewel in the crown” of the Dubailand development. The Freej Dubailand Theme Park will be a story-based, family entertainment destination that offers a delightful variety of shows and thrill rides designed to appeal to locals and tourists of all ages. The grandmothers from Freej will serve as ambassadors, delivering a welcoming introduction to the culture, history, and creativity of the Arab people.
