Nick Winslow
Nick Winslow has over thirty-five years experience in the commercial recreation industry and is one of America’s leading leisure industry consultants. He is currently advisor or owner’s representative to a wide range of projects. Clients include Wannado Entertainment, Village Roadshow and Warner-Village Parks, ZN Mexico Trust, Empire State Development Corp., Golden Entertainment Group, Gensler Architects and Grupo Magico for projects in China, Japan, Greece, Korea, Latin America and the United States. Previous clients include: Warner Bros., The Gordon Company, Mel Simon & Associates, Radio City Music Hall, and Ideal Resort.
In the 1990’s as President of Warner Bros. International Recreation Enterprises he was responsible for the development and operation of Warner Bros. theme parks outside the United States. Properties include Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’nWild, Sea World Nara Resort and Warner Roadshow Studios in Australia, and Warner Bros. Movie World and Movie World Studios in Germany.
As President of Harrison Price Company in Los Angeles, CA in the 1980’s he conducted feasibility studies for a wide range of projects and clients. Project categories included theme parks, museums, world’s fairs, retail centers, performing arts centers, arenas, amphitheaters, stadiums and resorts. Clients included Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Six Flags, Knotts Berry Farm, HERCO, Smithsonian, Field Museum in Chicago, Music Center of Los Angeles, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Mel Simon & Associates. He also participated in staging five World Expositions, including: Expo 74 in Spokane, Washington, USA; the 1982 Knoxville World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; the 1986 Vancouver Exposition in Vancouver, Canada; and the 1988 Brisbane World Exposition ’88 in Brisbane, Australia.
From 1975 through 1980 he was Vice President, Technical Subsidiaries of Paramount Pictures. In this position he also served as president of Future General Corp., a Paramount Pictures’ R&D subsidiary which ultimately became Showscan, a special format film company; he assisted in supervising the special effects for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “Star Trek-The Movie”. He was also president of Magicam--a high-tech video effects subsidiary now known as CSI, and founded Paramount Sound Systems, Inc., a professional sound contracting company with strong ties to the commercial recreation industry.
In the late 1960’s early 1970’s as vice president of Economics Research Associates, he began as a research associate in Los Angeles specializing in theme parks, tourism and market research studies. He moved to Washington D.C. to help establish East Coast operations, and then founded ERA'Florida and San Francisco offices.
Mr. Winslow graduated from Stanford University with a Master of Business Administration and from Pomona College with a Bachelor of Arts – Mathematics.
Mr. Winslow has had/continues to have the following affiliations: Director, Themed Entertainment Association; Director, Pasadena Playhouse; Trustee and Vice Chair, Pomona College; Director, Manhattan Friends of the Arts; Director, Los Angeles Master Chorale; Member and President, Economic Round Table of Los Angeles; Member and Strategic Planning Committee, International Association Of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
